However motherhood comes to a woman, it is the greatest miracle that can happen in a lifetime. Happy Mother’s Day to each and every woman….. past, present or future.
As I was writing this… my mind traveled back to the years I have been blessed with my mother’s love. This is the first Mother’s Day where my mum is not here with me. She’s probably looking down from heaven and saying….finally, Anne you are writing. Yes, ma I have indeed begun the journey and have chosen this very special day as a dedication to you, my beautiful and beloved mother, Beatrice Ramanathan.
Who amongst us, would not appreciate the love of a mother? With certainty everyone could write pages and pages of loving messages for this one woman who has either been a great inspiration, love, strength, comfort, peace, pillar... it’s a never ending list of adjectives we could use to describe the beauty that lies within a mother.
She is the very heartstring that connects to her children and a child walks through life with a piece of her heart intact within.
I was a complete recipient of that enormous heart. Brought into this world by one mother who was unable to continue her journey with me and presented into the hands of another who showered me with unconditional love.
Mum’s journey did not end with just the joy and happiness of having a baby. After 12 years of enjoying the thrills, frills, the ups and downs of motherhood, her world came tumbling down when tragedy struck. What happens to a mum when her child falls ill and is told life would not be the same ever again? Dreams are shattered, hearts are broken, emotions are flaring and pain sets in as the child she adopted curls into a ball, unable to walk and all she could do was to watch helplessly as every single joint and bone begins to deform and becomes unfunctional. The magnitude of her sadness and sorrow was beyond words, worries and anxiety began to take over her high spirits. Tears and prayers were her constant companions. The search for a cure became her only prayer. Everything that she did was done out of love. Her love, dedication and sacrifice was a reflection of the great woman that she was. She rose above every storm and picked up the pieces and continued her journey with me for 43 years, caring and tending to my every need. My mother may not have had the experience of child birth but she was in every way blessed with the instincts of an amazing mother.
We hear, read, see and even touch over and over again on this very topic on how great a mother’s love can be. We experience the transcending power of love from a mother. We are able to appreciate the warmth and gentle promptings of this beautiful lady. We even know how to appreciate the time that she gives of herself. With this knowledge in our hearts, may this day be a day to remember the essence of this miracle we call mother.
This is a tribute to all the unsung heroins who go by with the title of an amazing word ~ Mum, Mother, Amma, Mamma, Ma, Mutti…… whatever the language, it holds the very same essence of true love, the best of its kind.
To all mothers’ across this beautiful blue marble, your unconditional devotion, and time is truly treasured and is a great inspiration, not just for your children but for mothers’ everywhere.
To all mothers with special needs children, Kudus to all of you. Your love, faith, support and perseverance surpasses any understanding and you are indeed specially chosen for your special child. In your times of trials, know that God is with you and your child every step of the way.
To all single mothers’, may your journey of love, strength and hope continue to be a beacon of light in your child/children’s growth and life.
To all mothers’ who are fortunate to adopt may God bless you as you spread the rainbow of love, acceptance and trust to the lives of your adopted children and bring new hope and beginnings into their lives.
To all mothers’ who had to part with your child for some reason or another, may comfort and peace envelope your life.
To all mothers’ who have lost a child, know that your child is your guardian angel watching and looking after you from heavens above.
To all unmarried women who for some way or rather take on the role of a mother may God bless you with wisdom and fill your heart with joy and love through the children that He brings your way.
To all mothers’ who have left your country of origin, or homes to work for the needs of your children and family, know that your efforts are always appreciated and treasured.
A Mother's love makes a family.
